Über 1 Milliarde verkaufte Bluetooth-fähige Geräte - damit mehr Bluetooth-Geräte als PC-User weltweitDie Verbreitung des Kurzstreckenfunks Bluetooth übertrifft alle Erwartungen. Laut Bluetooth SIG sind weltweit bereits über eine Milliarde Bluetooth-fähige Geräte im Umlauf. Damit gibt es erstmals mehr Geräte, die mit dem schnellen Kurzstreckfunk ausgestattet sind als Nutzer von PCs. Bluetooth dient mit seiner Vielseitigkeit nicht nur dem Datenaustausch zwischen Handy und PC, sondern verbindet auch Headsets, PC-Peripherie, Kameras, medizinische und Logistik-Geräte, Spielkonsolen und MP3-Player. Ende 2005 hatten Studien für 2006 erst mit einer halben Milliarde Bluetooth-Geräte gerechnet. Diese Schätzung wurde nun deutlich übertroffen.

"Turn your mobile": Hiwave sends the MINI to French mobile phones30 September - 16 October, 2006 - at the Paris Motor Show fairgoers had the opportunity to visit the MINI (BMW Group) stand and to load the mobile phone application developed by Interone called "Turn your mobile" via Bluetooth to their mobile phones. This program accesses the Symbian version of the camera API, letting the MINI turn left or right in line with the movement made by the mobile phone. The Bluetooth technology for this innovative tool was provided by Hiwave.

WLAN is significantly superior to mobile phone systems when it comes to internet useAccording to Computerzeitung (issue 40/2006), internet use via mobile phone network is still far from being suitable for everyday use. Despite the slowly upgraded HSDPA technology, not only are the access prices ("exorbitant fees") to high and intransparent for the user, but the distribution of suitable end devices is still inadequate. The few mobile phones that are equipped for mobile web additionally have batteries with a life expectancy that is too short and keyboards as well as displays that are too small. Furthermore, only very few companies have a website in a version that caters to the format of the mobile phone. The result is that most mobile web users prefer WLAN and laptops to mobile networks and smartphones for their web usage.

Content sales via classical mobile networks too expensiveThe industry magazine mediabiz reports that content owners find the content sales volume commissions of the mobile network providers too high. In most cases, net operators claim between 40 and 50 percent of the sales volume for themselves. The content owners questioned by Valista within the framework of their survey, would concede with max. 20 to 25 percent, a fifth of the interviewees merely 5 percent. In contrast to the classic mobile network, the fee for content sales via Bluetooth is usually zero.

TV concern campaigns with Bluetooth - the trade press is thrilledAt Grand Central Station in NYC passers-by can load video clips of the upcoming CBS fall program onto their mobile phones. The US web portal Fierce writes: "... This is a very cool idea, and one that has and will likely continue to be replicated by other entertainment content firms. Sales of WLAN mobile phones increasing significantlyIn August 2006, the specialist portals areamobile and inside-handy list 50 and 75 WLAN-capable mobile end devices of various manufacturers; all big labels are represented. Also the VoIP companies Skype and Sipgate offer WLAN-capable end devices. Google Talk also plans to introduce a WLAN model onto the market. Consequentially, the market researcher In-Stat predicts that WLAN shall be a must-have feature for mobile phones in the future. By accessing the internet via WLAN hotspots, mobile phones will become less dependent on classical mobile networks, users can reduce their phone and internet costs significantly.

Hiwave promotes action movie with Bluetooth systemAt the world's largest comic fair in the USA, a major film studio promoted their latest action movie with the transportable Hiwave Bluetooth System. Via the transmitter that the promoters carried in their backpacks, fairgoers were able to download the movie's trailers, ring tones and wallpaper onto their mobile phones. In a survey, the leading actors were voted "coolest action heroes" by 5,000 cineasts. The movie itself went straight to first place of the movie hit parade shortly after its release in the USA (Source: The Hollywood Reporter, Boxoffice Charts).

Sports car impressions with BluetoothA German sports car manufacturer realizes a Point-of-Sale promotion with Hiwave Bluetooth illuminated towers (HiSpot). Sports car fans received Java applications, ring tones and wallpaper for download free of charge on shopping Sunday. The virtual brochure contains images, technical data, interior variants, prices, additional download links via GPRS and a list of dealerships.
